Letter From Head Teacher September 2017

5th September 2017

Dear Parents and Carers

Head Teacher’s welcome for the new academic year - September 2017

I hope everyone has had a super summer holiday. I wanted to thank everyone for all your fantastic support last year and all the staff at Ashmole Primary are looking forward to working with you all this academic year. We are all set up for the new school year in our temporary buildings for one more year while the permanent building is being constructed. This year we have our current Year One Classes alongside our Reception Classes.

Year One have started in their new classrooms that have been kitted out very well with the Reception pupils starting from Tuesday 12th September in a staggered entry. By Thursday 21st September all 120 pupils will be in full time. Over the summer the staff have come in to prepare all the classrooms and group areas and I am very pleased to say that the children have lovely classrooms and a dining area that will also be used for Breakfast and After School Club.

The Reception Classes are: Calypso Class led by Mrs Pavlakos with support from our School Direct teacher Miss Beeston and Higher Level Teaching Assistant Mrs Athanasi. Orion Class will be led by Miss Charalambous with support from our Higher Level Teaching Assistant Mrs Panayi. Our lunchtime support staff are Miss Walsh, Mrs Onyuma, Mr Bishop and Mrs Aresti. Our staff also include Mrs Andrews (Admin Officer) and Mrs Chown and Miss Gilding who are our Medical Welfare Officers.

The Year One Classes are: Nova Class led by Miss Costas with support from our Higher Level Teaching Assistant Mrs Bradshaw. Luna Class is led by Miss Cooper with our Higher Level Teaching Assistant Mrs Petrou. Mrs Deniz, our Teaching Assistant, will support both Year One classes.

The staff now have their own staff room which is situated above the Group Room. Our Medical Room is now situated in between the Year One classes with Mrs Chown.

Our playground as mentioned before is a little tighter but we still have enough space for the children to play outside Year One and an astro-turfed area outside the Reception Classes. Lunchtimes and playtimes are staggered so not all the children from both year groups will all be outside at the same time.

We will continue our close links with Ashmole Academy in particular with the teaching of Spanish, PE and Music.

We will keep you up to date with all relevant information via our website: www.ashmoleprimary.org as well as through our email and text service. We will continue to produce a monthly newsletter. Please ensure that your contact details are all up to date as all correspondence will be sent via email regularly. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our school office email is office@ashmoleprimary.org

As always we will endeavour to ensure that all the children have a successful and fun filled year where everyone will be very proud of all their achievements and overall progress.

Yours faithfully

Mr Chris Tofallis
