Headteacher's Welcome Letter

July 2016

Dear Parents/Carers

We are all looking forward to welcoming our new pupils in September 2016. The temporary building for the two Reception classes will be constructed by McAvoy and we are all pleased that the construction will take place from July till the end of August 2016.

The class teachers will be making home visits before school opens as we feel it is important to see the children in their home environment.  The Reception team will call you to arrange an appointment to visit your home in the week commencing 5th September 2016.

Admission Arrangements - In order that the children settle into school easily we stagger the intake so that they can get used to school in small groups.  Before starting school we ask that you come with them for short ‘stay and play’ sessions so that they meet their teacher again, see their classroom and play with some of their new friends.

Miss Panayi (Early Years Leader) will be teaching Reception ‘Calypso’ Class with Miss Beeston and Mrs Deniz supporting.

Miss Costas will be teaching Reception ‘Orion’ Class with Mrs Petrou and Mrs Deniz supporting.

The children will also be placed into four houses: (Yellow- Diamonds; Red- Rubies; Blue- Sapphires or Green- Emeralds).

Starting School Booklet – Thank you for returning the “Starting School” booklet that will help us to learn about your child.

Home School Agreement - Ashmole Primary School is a happy, safe and welcoming community where all are respected, encouraged and supported to reach their full potential and achieve personal excellence and fulfilment in all they do.  At Ashmole we value the link between home and school and the sense of belonging to a community with shared values. Our Home School Agreement is a more formal way in which we can develop our partnership.  It clarifies the roles and duties of those who make up our community in our aim to aspire to the highest educational and personal standards. All are invited to sign it to make their commitment. Thank you for returning the signed Home School Agreement to the school office.

Permission for local visits - In order to reinforce work done in the classrooms, there may be occasions when teachers wish to take children to the local shops, the park or just for a walk. These may be spur of the moment decisions, but at all times there will be sufficient adults to supervise the children. We do need your permission for this, and would be grateful if you could sign and return the confirmation slip to the Reception staff during your home visit, which will be kept on file while your child is at Ashmole.

Breakfast Club and After School ClubThese clubs will commence from Monday 3rd October 2016 with Breakfast Club running from 8am till 8.50am and the After School Club open from 3.15pm till 5pm. These clubs will be led by our Reception staff. The team will notify parents/ carers who expressed an initial interest to confirm places.

Children are able to bring a water bottle to school which can also be purchased from our school.

I wish everyone a great summer holiday and we look forward to meeting you all again in September and welcoming you all to our new school.

Yours faithfully

Mr Chris Tofallis
