Safeguarding at Ashmole Primary School
Ashmole Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The health and safety of all children is paramount. As a school, we will take all reasonable action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students. In cases where the school has reason to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse, staff must follow the school’s Safeguarding Policy, which is in line with the DfE Keeping Children Safe In Education, and inform Children’s Social Care Services of their concerns.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about the students are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. Records of welfare concerns will be kept about a child.
At Ashmole Primary School we ensure that we maintain a pastoral care system that encourages and enables all of our students to feel secure centring around pupils, parents and carers being given the best possible support and advice. Parents and carers are always given the opportunity to speak to staff, should they have any concerns or require support to manage a situation that may be having an impact on their child/ren at home.
As a school we strive to communicate and work effectively in partnership with other external agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Some examples of some of the external agencies that provide parents and carers with support and advice on a range of matters include Early Help; Barnet Integrated Clinical Services (BICS); e-Safety guidance; Mental Health support, Bereavement support; Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and advice for those experiencing domestic abuse.
If you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child please contact the school immediately and clearly state that your call relates to a potential safeguarding issue, or if you prefer please send an email into the school, clearly marked for the attention of the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
If your concerns are outside of School hours or during the school holidays, please contact the police through 101. If a child is in imminent danger then please dial 999 for the Police.
